Acupuncture Procedures
Most orthopaedic and soft tissue patients may benefit from acupuncture as an adjunctive therapy from both a pain management and soft tissue healing perspective. Patients that are particularly likely to benefit from acupuncture include;
-
Patients undergoing conservative management of orthopaedic conditions, such as cruciate disease or hip dysplasia
-
Peri-operative patients, particularly during post-surgical rehabilitation
-
Musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries
-
Patients with neuropathic or suspected neuropathic pain
-
Patients with neurodegenerative conditions
-
Patients with wound infections, immunosuppression, or endocrinopathies (e.g. Cushing’s disease) that may result in delayed wound healing
-
Chronic pain patients, particularly those with osteoarthritis
-
Patients who would benefit from analgesic effects but have underlying systemic disease that limits the use of medications
